When a door needs replacing rather than repairing
When the panels themselves are finished: cracked or split sections, a panel bent by an impact, or a bottom section that years of west-facing sun have baked brittle. Hardware is repairable almost indefinitely. Panels are not.

A double door costs more than a single, and a wider opening changes the spring as well as the panel, so measure the opening before you call if you can.
Should my HOA approve a new garage door?

Can you replace a garage door without replacing the tracks?
